Model United Nations

Model United Nations is a constructive and interactive group that was started at Notre Dame High School in 2010.

The club's day-to-day activities include introductions to bodies of the U.N., informal discussions of current world events, and preparation for classroom conferences. For each conference, we choose a topic to discuss, as well as nations to represent. Conferences include a combination of informal and formal debate, deliberation, negotiation, voting and resolution. We have covered such bodies as the General Assembly concerning Israeli-Palestinian relations, a Crisis Committee covering North Korea's shelling of a South Korean island, and a Security Council conference deliberating the 2011 situation in Libya.

In the future, we hope to cover more U.N. bodies, to hold fundraisers in support of U.N. humanitarian causes, and to attend an actual M.U.N. conference.
