2012 Notre Dame High School Boys Golf Recap
The Notre Dame Boys Golf Team finished the year 8-5 overall and a Mission League record of 7-5 for fourth place behind league champion Loyola. The Knights also qualified for CIF for the third year in a row. The Notre Dame squad had a 5-1 home record at their home course, Lakeside Golf Club. The Knights finished 9th in the CIF Central Division at Lakewood Golf Club and had a final overall Valley ranking of 6th place by the LA Daily News.
Notre Dame was led by Senior and Captain Alex Ramsey and Freshman and All Mission League performer Kevin Jackson. Alex Ramsey had the low stroke average 38.9 followed by Kevin Jackson and Junior Andrew Gowanlock with 39.6 stroke averages. Jackson also qualified for CIF Individual Play at Las Posas Country Club and was named All Mission League with his 6th place finish at league finals.
Junior Andrew Gowanlock and Senior Ryan Wilson (40.6 ave.) bolstered the Knights play with improved consistency by posting medalist honors 5 and 2 times respectively.
Freshman Zareh Kaloustian and Freshman Josh Krutchik played in all varsity matches and tournaments and qualified with Ramsey, Jackson and Gowanlock for individual Mission League Finals at Harding Golf Course. Kaloustian was medalist at Hansen Dam with an even par performance. Gowanlock was Notre Dame's low medalist at Lakewood Golf Club with a 74 in the CIF Central Division Final, three off the day's low individual round. Also contributing to the Knights were Junior Peter Baca, Junior Ryan Avila, and the Freshman tandem of Austin Suzuki and Jordan Marsh.
