Ensuring that NDHS maintains it strong enrollment is essential. While the school endowment and reserve funding have increased over the past decade, its present $6 million level produces only about $300,000 annually for tuition assistance for deserving students, even though NDHS awards more than $1.1 million each year. Increasing endowment is an absolute necessity as NDHS seeks to keep the cost of its education affordable to middle and lower income families by providing more tuition assistance in the years to come. For generations, the Holy Cross Brothers were, in effect, the "endowment" of NDHS. Their contributed services kept school operating costs low and enabled them to keep tuition low and, many times, offer tuition assistance or forgiveness. In the absence of the wonderful service offered by the Brothers, NDHS must call upon the past recipients of such aid and those alumni, parents and friends desiring to create opportunities for tomorrow's leaders to step forward and fill the tuition assistance needs for future generations.
