Notre Dame High School Band Performing in Dublin, Ireland. August 30, 2012

The IKB Tradition
The Irish Knight Band (IKB) has been a part of Notre Dame High School tradition since 1947. Since that time the band has earned a stellar reputation for its standard of excellence. The award winning Irish Knight Band has performed in numerous band review competitions throughout Southern California. The band has appeared in:
- The Tournament of Roses Parade
- The Fiesta Bowl Parade
- The Holiday Bowl Parade
- The Calgary Stampede Parade
- The Hollywood Christmas Parade
The band regularly earns Superior and Unanimous Superior ratings at concert festivals.
Many studies have shown that students in band score higher on standardized tests. Recently the Texas Music Educators Association monitored test scores for a number of years and band members consistently scored higher than non-band students on the SAT exam.
The IKB is an active part of student life at N.D. The band has not missed a varsity football game since the 1967 season. Students in the band are active on athletic teams and in student government. Typically 45% to 50% of the band members are on the school Honor Roll.
From the first day of Band Camp, students feel they belong to the band, to the school and to each other. The camaraderie amongst band members is one that can last a life time.
