Marcus Meakin coaching philosophy
As Notre Dame High School's girls soccer coach, my philosophy can be summed up by two words: positive coaching. My job is to build the students' self-esteem and confidence, teach skills and encourage good sportsmanship.
I ask that my players give 100 percent during games and practices. I also expect them to be committed in body, mind and spirit. I teach them to treat everyone with respect, including teammates, coaches, referees, parents and our opponents. And, of course, my players have fun!
I have been a youth soccer coach for over 30 years. I also played semi-professional soccer in England and the United States. Besides being a coach at NDHS, I am also the program director and coach at Arsenal FCLA. Soccer is my passion, and I will work to bring that love of the game to all of my players.
