A Letter from our President

Dear IKB Families:

Another year has flown by and, once again, the Bandcake Breakfast and Silent Auction is upon us.  It will be happening Sunday, February 6, 2011, 8 AM-12 Noon. This is the band’s largest fundraiser and to make it even more special, we are adding something unique.

We are collecting for Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry a Van Nuys. Every person who brings in a donation for the “Souper Bowl Drive”, will receive a free raffle ticket for our special raffles. You can bring any canned or packaged foods as in any traditional food drive – but canned or packaged soups would be a real bonus in support of the name of the drive.

Each IKB family is responsible for selling ten tickets for this event.  Please invite your parents, grandparents, family and friends. Additional tickets are available upon request.

As always, in order to make the Auction a huge success, we will need a lot of donations, so please consider the following:

— Do you have any unwanted holiday gifts you can donate?

— Do you know anyone who could donate exciting items for the auction?

— Do you frequent restaurants, spas, movies and businesses? If so, ask them for a contribution. Many, when asked, are happy to help!

We sincerely appreciate all your help in donating and/or selling tickets, as well as assistance for the event itself.

If you need our tax exempt status number or have any questions, please contact Martin Cantwell at 661-305-5249 or cantwell5@socal.rr.com.

Thank you in advance for your support. It is greatly appreciated and will assure the continued success of our band program.

Sincerely,

Martin Cantwell

A Holy Cross Commitment

The Irish Knight Band is proud to support the efforts of the Immersion-To-Go program which was begun by our own ND students who wanted to continue the service work started during their immersion experience.  This year the program will be holding a week long food collection drive ending at the BandCake "Souper Bowl" Breakfast.  All canned/non-perishable items will be donated to Loaves and Fishes to help those who are in need.  Notre Dame High School students, faculty & staff donate needed supplies year round as a commitment to our community.

At BandCake 2011, the Irish Knight Band will enthusiastically welcome your supply donations to this worthy cause.  Thank you for your support.

LET'S TALK TURKEY!
Let the good times roll!

At the BandCake's Silent Auction, we will have a perfect meal available for your Super Bowl game party.

In celebration of the Saints being in the big game and in support of the Irish Knight Band, Terry McGaha will personally prepare and cook four (possibly more) turkeys.  After brining them for 18 long hours, he will baste them continuously while they smoke over hickory.  Terry is an an excellent cook from New Orleans and we are very grateful for his donation and talents.  We will also have some special additions to our silent auction...look for the cookbook!

In addition to his cooking skills, Terry is the Director of Mission Outreach and  Parent/Volunteer Programs at Notre Dame High School.  He graciously attends all of our booster meetings.  He is also famous as the head chef of the Notre Dame Grillers, a fun club at Notre Dame High School that grills a variety of food for the kids and staff at special events through the year.
