Mission League Champions Again
The 2009 Girls Golf team went undefeated, with 14 victories and 0 losses during the regular season matches. The girls worked very hard to improve their game and lower their scores, and as a result, all 6 of the girls who participated in the Mission League Prelims qualified for the Finals. Out of the 7 teams competing, Notre Dame had 6 of the top 12 golfers, which is unprecedented for one team to dominate to that degree. We have been Mission League Champions 6 out of the last 7 years, but this one was the most gratifying because it was due to the depth of our team. We are only losing 2 seniors, so we look to be strong for years to come.

Moving on to CIF competition means more challenging courses and opponents. The team traveled to Arroyo Grande and placed 8th in the Northern Division. This was our highest finish in CIF and we are really determined to make it to the Team Finals next year. Individually, sophomore Stephanie Bush and freshmen Arielle Valdez qualified for CIF, with Arielle moving on to the Finals.

About Girl's Golf
The Notre Dame High School Golf Team has a tradition of strong team and individual play. We have qualified for CIF every year of the golf program’s existence (1990). Heidi Voorhees ’90 (All San Fernando Valley League Honors and advanced to the CIF Championship) and Emilee Klein ’92 (Arizona State, 11 years on LGPA tour) were two successful golfers before the league started a girls’ program. Other outstanding golfers have included: Nikki Imaromna ’02 (JC State Champion in 2003 and currently playing at CSUN), Ali Simpson ’03, Mayumi Kobayashi ’04 (University of Wisconsin), Faith DeGuzman ’07 (San Diego State University), Sarah Salvo ’08 (University of New Mexico).

Notre Dame High School has produced the MVP of the League for six consecutive years.

The girls practice together from June thru October and participate in outside tournaments year round. It is a demanding and rewarding experience to be a part of ND Golf.
