The Notre Dame girls' golf program prides itself on working hard, having fun and bringing out the best in each other - and winning championships happens to be the by-product of these things.
Our history includes 12 Mission League Championships, 3 CIF Divisional Championships and several tournament wins. In addition, the MVP of the league has been a Notre Dame golfer 13 times since 1999, which was the first year of Mission League girls’ golf program.
The young ladies who go through the program dedicate themselves to taking lessons, playing tournaments year-round and participating in the off-season conditioning program while maintaining good grades. Golfers develop excellent time management skills, patience, determination and most of all a high level of integrity. Many of our alumnae have gone on to play college golf (U of New Mexico, UC Riverside, Boston College, U of Northern Colorado, Lewis and Clark, Macalester College, CSUN), but even those who don’t take with them a love for the game that will stay with them forever. Participating in golf prepares the girls to be successful in all aspects of their future lives.
One of our traditions is a “bootcamp” in the last week of July. We spend seven hours together (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) each day playing golf locally and in Ventura County, conditioning, eating and generally bonding as a team. Although golf is a sport where you can work on your game independently, competing for your teammates adds a whole new dimension to one’s performance. Getting to know and trust each other is a vital component of high school golf. We are proud of our reputation of being a strong team who loves each other and are great people to play a round of golf with.
The team was comprised of 3 returning seniors, 2 juniors and 3 sophomores, along with 2 new freshmen.
We won the Mission League Championship - our 13th since 1999.
Junior Liana Brown was the league MVP - the 10th time for an ND golfer.
All 6 ND golfers qualified for the ML Individual finals, with Liana, Annie Buffolino and Marley Franklin moving on to the CIF Individual Regionals. Liana continued on to the Southern California Regional Finals - 1 step before the State Finals.
The team had an incredible season - undefeated in league competition and 2nd place at the CIF Northern Division Championships. This qualified us for the CIF Finals where we took 6th place.
This team connected in a special way, which made all our success even more sweet.
