Students must arrive promptly by 6 p.m. with their cap and gown on, and should report to the baseball field. The gown should be ironed on a very low heat setting. Students should comb their hair the way they prefer with the mortarboard flat on top of the head. (Tip: turn the pointed front under before pinning each side.) Hairpins will be available for caps. The tassel should be worn on the left side of the cap, and it is switched to the right side after receiving the diploma.
Attire for Boys: Dress slacks, shirt, and tie, dress shoes, and be clean-shaven.
Attire for Girls: Dresses, skirts, dress slacks, blouses, or appropriate dressy attire.
No sunglasses, flip-flops, crocs, or tennis shoes. Girls are encouraged to wear flat shoes or wedges, as walking in heels can be a challenge on the field.
CSF Seal bearers should pin their cords to the back collar of their gowns.
Graduates may not decorate their gowns or mortarboards.
Graduation Seating
Family and friends may arrive as early as 6:00 p.m. to the football field. Parking is available on campus and on the neighborhood streets. Based on the current COVID guidelines from the County of Los Angeles, it is expected that seating will be unlimited. We will use the entire stadium for seating to allow room for guests to socially distance themselves. If the County of Los Angeles changes those guidelines Notre Dame will comply with the limits currently in place at that time and seating availability may be limited. Parents will be notified of any changes to the seating availability. Stadium seating and parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and no tickets are required. Handicapped seating will be available on the track for those who need it. The seats will be paired to allow the handicapped individual and one family member to sit together on the track. The balance of the family will sit in the stands.
Other Graduation Information
The snack bar will be open and sell coffee, water, and light snacks.
Handicapped parking on campus is limited to the spaces provided in the Woodman and Riverside parking lots. Additional handicapped parking will also be available in the Huston lot on a first-come, first-served basis. Other options include dropping off guests at the corner of Sunnyslope and Huston.
The school's photographer, Ultimate Exposures, will take two photographs of each student, one as they receive their diploma and one after they have exited the stage. These photos and an order form will be emailed by Ultimate Exposures to graduate families following the ceremony.
Important: graduates and guests of graduates may not bring noisemakers, air horns, or beach balls to the graduation ceremony. Please do not bring mylar balloons, mylar/metallic streamers, or confetti as these present a serious fire and safety hazard if they come in contact with the electrical power lines located in the stadium. Flowers and latex balloons are permitted.
