"Safe Streets" Assembly - Freshmen Class

All Freshmen will attend a Safe Streets Assembly from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. The focus of the assembly will be on what the students can do as pedestrians, riders and drivers to make traveling on our streets and sidewalks safer for all. The assembly will be presented by members of the California Highway Patrol, the Los Angeles Police Department, in conjunction with the Conor Lynch Foundation which supports new and existing programs that raise awareness and promote the safety of runners, pedestrians, cyclists and young drivers. The Conor Lynch Foundation was established after Conor Lynch, while training with the Notre Dame High School cross country team, was killed by a distracted, unlicensed, hit-and-run driver. Conor was 16 years old. The woman who killed him was 18 years old. Coincidentally, this tragedy occurred during National Teen Safe Driving Week. A featured speaker at the assembly will be Jeri Dye Lynch, Conor’s mother and a member of the Notre Dame High School Board of Directors. The Conor Lynch Foundation partners with and supports organizations throughout the country to raise safety consciousness, and improve the quality of life for pedestrians and drivers.
