Martine Abdaem joined the Notre Dame community in 2012 and currently serves as the Director of Counseling, supporting freshman and sophomore students through their high school experience. With 22 years of experience as a school counselor, Martine brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in academic, college, career, and social-emotional counseling.
Prior to joining Notre Dame, Martine served as the Senior Lead Counselor at Saint Monica Catholic High School, where she also taught Psychology. Earlier in her career, she worked as a school counselor at both the middle and high school levels within the Burbank Unified School District.
Martine holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling with a specialization in School Counseling, as well as a Pupil Personnel Services Credential from California State University, Northridge. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Throughout her career, Martine has been committed to supporting students in reaching their academic and personal goals while helping them navigate the many opportunities and challenges of their high school years. She is an active member of several professional counseling organizations, including the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC), the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).
