COVID-19 Information

08/05/22

Please remember that it is the responsibility of each individual to notify our COVID Coordinator (COVID19@ndhs.org) of any and all positive cases of COVID in their household as soon as possible so we may begin the contact tracing process and minimize the possibility of spreading the infection to other students and staff. Please do not send your student to school if they are exhibiting any signs of illness.

The Notre Dame High School Administration will closely follow the recommendations and requirements of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH).  Guidelines on isolation or quarantine can be found by clicking here.

Currently, LACDPH is not mandating the use of masks for TK-12 schools, however, they are continuing to “strongly recommend” the wearing of one. For the latest on "Mask Wearing Rules and Recommendations" click here.

There is a field in the Magnus Health Portal under the Immunizations tab for you to indicate your child’s COVID-19 vaccination status. Please take a moment to complete that section, as doing so will help us in the event we need to contact trace and prioritize our COVID-19 testing.  If you need assistance accessing the Magnus Health Portal, you may call Magnus Parent Support at (877) 461-6831 or email them at service@magnushealthportal.com or click here to reset your password.

Please remember that it is the responsibility of each individual to notify our COVID Coordinator of any and all positive cases of COVID in their household.  It is imperative that you alert us immediately at Covid19@ndhs.org so that we may begin to contact trace and continue to keep our students and staff safe.

Please do not send your student to school if they have any kind of illness or are exhibiting symptoms. Guidelines on isolation or quarantine can be found by clicking here.

This week, the California Department of Health and Human Services announced that the public health order regarding all individuals in TK-12 schools will be revised to “strongly recommend” wearing a mask in class, but it will not be required. The Los Angeles public health agency announced that beginning March 12, 2022, it too will align with the revised public health order – therefore, masks will be strongly recommended, but no longer required, in our school.  Of course, if a student, or member of our staff, wishes to wear a mask, they are welcome to do so. Notre Dame will also discontinue the morning temperature checks and daily COVID questionnaire through the VisitU app. Instead, we ask all families to continue these daily routines prior to coming to campus each morning.

This change will be received differently across our community. For some, this is welcome news. For others, concerns remain that infection is still a threat, particularly those with serious health conditions. To be sure, COVID-19 has not gone away, but the tools we possess to mitigate its effects are now well established. Indeed, the possibility of a new variant is real, but as a society, we are better prepared. As well, if a student does not feel well, please keep them at home and test them for COVID-19 and then be sure to be compliant with the LA County protocols for a person with COVID-19.

We ask that you honor the public health protocols our school is still required to follow, along with any elevated protocols we may have to implement due to local transmission risks.  We will keep you updated with this information.

If your student is not vaccinated, they are required to test once weekly on campus. Currently, testing is taking place in the Holy Cross Courtyard on Mondays and Tuesdays from 1:45-4:00 p.m. You must sign up ahead of time and provide insurance, even though there is no charge to your family. You should never receive a bill for COVID testing. If you do, please contact our COVID Coordinator at Covid19@ndhs.org

Over the last fifteen months, in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, we have adapted the ways we lived our daily lives, as well as the ways we educate, counsel, and coach our students. As some restrictions are lifted and Schools more fully reopen, Notre Dame's priority is our need to care for and protect one another.

While it is highly recommended and encouraged by the County of Los Angeles Public Health and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to wear a mask outdoors in large gatherings and in other outdoor spaces where we gather, Notre Dame recognizes that this is not a requirement and therefore will no longer continue to enforce the use of a mask outdoors.

This does not change our zero-tolerance policy for the use of a mask indoors. Notre Dame still requires the use of an eligible mask indoors and worn properly at all times (unless while actively eating or drinking).

Free COVID-19 Testing

The City and County of Los Angeles, and other health providers and pharmacies, have set up COVID-19 vaccination and testing sites across Los Angeles County. COVID-19 testing, vaccines, and boosters are FREE for everyone regardless of immigration status or healthcare coverage.
